Discussing farmers markets

Farmers market growers and managers will be among those who attend an April 19 meeting near Santa Rosa on the markets of Sonoma County.

The meeting will include an overview of the county's farmers markets and protocols for those who want to sell products at them.

Other topics will include vendor certification, regulations for direct marketing of livestock and an overview of an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) program that can allow food stamp recipients to use their Golden State Advantage accounts for purchasing food at the markets.

The meeting will be 2 to 4 p.m. at the conference room of the sponsors, the UC Cooperative Extension and the Sonoma County Agricultural Commissioner's Office. The address is 133 Aviation Blvd. north of Santa Rosa.
