Transportation wish list

Representatives Lynn Woolsey, D-Petaluma, and Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, have made requests totalling $72.5 million for 30 transportation projects.

WOOLSEY'S REQUESTS

Bodega Bay Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail, $500,000. To construct an 8-foot-wide, paved bicycle and pedestrian path in Bodega Bay along the west side of Bay Flat Road between Eastshore Road and Highway 1.

Cooperative School Transportation Facility, $3 million. To develop a 5.85-acre parcel for bus and employee parking for West County Transportation Agency, Santa Rosa.

Compressed Natural Gas Bus Acquisition, $2 million. To replace buses for Sonoma County.

Electric Vehicle Fleet and Charging Station, $374,000. To the Sonoma County Transportation Authority to purchase electric vehicles and/or to convert vehicles to electric systems and expand available charging stations.

Golden Gate Bridge Seismic Retrofit Construction, $25 million. To complete the third phase of retrofitting the Golden Gate Bridge.

Golden Gate Ferry - Sausalito Ferry Terminal improvements, $5 million. To replace the existing passenger loading facilities and improve accessibility for bicyclists.

Highway 101 improvements in Greenbrae, $1.1 million. To the Transportation Authority of Marin to improve access and connectivity between major regional transportation hubs.

Highways 116 and 121 Roundabout, $1.1 million. To the Sonoma County Transportation Authority to improve traffic circulation and reduce congestion at this intersection.

Hybrid Bus Replacement, $2.58 million. To the city of Santa Rosa to replace fixed-route diesel urban transit buses with hybrid gasoline-electric buses.

Highway 101 in Marin County, $2 million. To provide congestion relief by adding northbound and southbound car-pool lanes along a 17-mile stretch in the Novato Narrows.

Marin-Sonoma Narrows, $1.4 million. To acquire right-of-way for Highway 101 improvements and for environmental mitigation to offset construction impacts.

Muir Woods Shuttle Vehicle Acquisition, $2.24 million. To purchase up to eight 37-passenger shuttle buses for the Muir Woods Shuttle service.

Pacific Way Bridge, $3.5 million. To replace a 24-foot bridge with a 250-foot bridge to reduce flooding and provide vehicle access to the Marin Civic Center.

Rapid Bus Corridor, $500,000. For the City of Santa Rosa to assess urban transit needs and propose solutions for the Santa Rosa Urbanized Area.

Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit, $5 million. To complete preliminary engineering and environmental work.

Bicycle and pedestrian overcrossing of Highway 101, $750,000. For the Sonoma County Transportation Authority to provide access from a future Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit station to Santa Rosa Junior College.

THOMPSON'S REQUESTS

Arata Lane-Highway 101 onramp improvements, $3.9 million. For Caltrans to complete northbound Arata Lane on-ramp work.

Compressed Natural Gas Bus Acquisition, $2 million. To replace buses for Sonoma County.

Del Norte County Regional Airport passenger terminal, $6 million. To complete final design and site preparation for the terminal's expansion.

Fields Landing Marine Terminal, $1.26 million. To modernize the Humboldt Bay cargo and maritime facility.

Intersection of Interstate 5 and State Route 113, $2.1 million. To improve the freeway-to-freeway connector in Woodland.

Front Street reconstruction, $2.5 million. To rebuild Front Street in Crescent City, which was heavily damaged by the 1964 tsunami.

Russian River Bridge in Healdsburg, $3 million. For Caltrans design, engineering and studies of the bridge that crosses the Russian River in Healdsburg.

Highway 101 at Smith River Rancheria, $2.77 million. To improve traffic safety.

Non-motorized pathway in Humboldt County, $5 million. For Caltrans to build a path linking McKinleyville, Arcata and Blue Lake.

Smith River National Recreation Area, $1.98 million. To improve access roads Low Divide and Rowdy Creek.

Napa Valley Vine Trail, $1 million. To fund part of a 44-mile Napa Valley trail from Calistoga to the Vallejo ferry terminal.

Highway 299 improvements in Humboldt County, $5 million. To remove restrictions on truck traffic on Highway 299 between Humboldt Bay port and Redding.

Simpson Lane interchange, Sacramento, $4.5 million. For Caltrans improvements at an interchange with an excessive number of serious and fatal accidents.

Highway 101 and Dry Creek interchange, $500,000. For Caltrans preliminary engineering and design at the interchange, which was built in 1960.
