Will Santa Rosa council ask for its museum money back?

Ten years ago, Santa Rosa gave the Sonoma County Museum $550,000 to help it buy land for expansion.

One of the terms was that the museum agreed to return the money if it didn't use the land within a decade.

The Santa Rosa City Council at its Tuesday meeting is set to decide whether to ask for its money back.

The museum has used the money to acquire two adjacent parcels but has since changed its expansion plans.

It now wants to build a sculpture garden on the acquired property and open an expansion space to the Museum on the Square Project envisioned for the former AT&T building downtown.
