Tuesday will be a big day for the Santa Rosa City Council.
Two new councilmembers, Scott Bartley and Jake Ours, will be sworn in, tilting the council in a pro-business direction with a 4-3 majority. Council member Ernie Olivares is likely to be elected mayor.
That in turn could shape the debate over a proposed bike/pedestrian bridge linking Santa Rosa Junior College to Coddingtown and a commute rail station.
Opponents say the cost, estimated at up to $20 million, is too much, while the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition is mustering a big turnout in support of the project.
The council meeting begins at 4 p.m.
