California's December deluge breaks rainfall records

LOS ANGELES - The December deluge has broken numerous rainfall records across Southern California.

The National Weather Service said Thursday that the month so far has been a record-setter for Los Angeles International Airport, with 7.68 inches, breaking the 2004 record of 6.49; Long Beach Airport with 8.91 inches, smashing the 1971 high of 5.29 inches.

Elsewhere, Camarillo Airport's 6.01 inches exceeded the 1964 record of 5.32 inches, while Santa Barbara Airport reported 8.59 inches, far outdoing the 1945 total of 6.78 inches.

Santa Maria Airport reported 8.24 inches, outdoing the record of 6.78 inches set back in 1941.

More rain is forecast for the weekend.
