A Guerneville man was in custody Thursday on charges that he shot an arrow from the balcony of his home into a parked car, sparking a 28-hour standoff with a SWAT team.

Shaun D. Gallon, 30, walking into the Sonoma County Jail at 10 p.m. Wednesday and surrendered to authorities. He was being held on $75,000 bail.

Gallon is suspected of shooting an arrow into the roof of a car parked near his apartment on Jan. 27, hitting a man sitting in the car in the head. The arrow caused minor injury.

Authorities pinpointed the likely source of the arrow as the house Gallon shared with his brother. The brother told authroties that Gallon had barricaded himself in the attic with a rifle. That led to a 28-hour standoff. When SWAT team members stormed the apartment, they found it empty.

A self-taught survivalist, it is believed Gallon eluded deputies by fleeing into the neighboring state parks.

Gallon is being held on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday.
