River Rock CEO resigns

River Rock Casino CEO Scott Garawitz has left the Alexander Valley casino ?to pursue other interests,? the tribal gaming business said Monday.

Garawitz, 51, came to River Rock last August from Thunder Valley Casino near Sacramento, where he had been the top executive since 2002.

River Rock?s chief operating officer, John Cirrincione, will be interim general manager while the casino looks for a new CEO.

River Rock is owned by the Dry Creek Pomo tribe and is located on the tribe?s 75-acre reservation.

The 7-year-old casino near Geyserville posted sales of $29.7 million for the quarter ending Sept. 30, down from $32.3 million for the same period in 2008.

After distributing $3.3 million to the tribe, River Rock reported a profit of $2.3 million last quarter, down nearly 42 percent from the same period last year.
