Officials report 6th California swine flu death

OAKLAND ? Health officials have confirmed California's sixth swine flu death.

Alameda County health officials on Thursday reported the death of a middle-aged man with H1N1 virus. Officials, citing agency policy, did not release identifying information, but said the man had been hospitalized for other conditions before his death.

On Tuesday, Alameda County officials reported another man had died from swine flu. An Orange County man's death was reported Monday. A San Bernardino County man, a Los Angeles County woman and a 9-year-old from Contra Costa County all died of the virus in May.

California had recorded 796 confirmed cases of the swine flu as of June 4, the latest figures available from the state Department of Health.
