Autopsy inconclusive in death of 14-year-old Santa Rosa girl

The autopsy of a 14-year-old Santa Rosa girl who died after investigators said she consumed vodka mixed with soda at a sleepover did not yield a definitive cause of death, Sonoma County sheriff's officials said Thursday.

The inconclusive autopsy findings mean that detectives must wait for a toxicology report to determine exactly how Takeimi Rao died, Sonoma County officials said.

Rao hosted three of her friends for a sleepover July 9 at her hillside Santa Rosa home, and the group drank vodka taken from a kitchen cupboard, detectives said.

"They said they drank a small amount and that it was their impression that she drank more than they did," Lt. Dennis O'Leary said.

Investigators said they didn't know how much was in the bottle when it was taken from the cupboard.

Rao and her friends became ill during the night and experienced bouts of vomiting. However by morning Rao was discovered unresponsive, officials said.
