Members of Asian Boyz street gang in court on 2008 Jenner beach slaying

Four defendants facing trial in the 2008 kidnap and murder of a trial witness near Jenner were in a Santa Rosa courtroom Monday on a motion to suppress incriminating statements made by one of them.

Quentin Russell, 28, Preston Khaoone, 25, and brothers David, 22, and Sarith Prak, 25, are charged with killing Vutha Au, 24, in the Blind Beach parking lot to prevent his testimony in another kidnapping case.

Trial is set for Oct. 14.

An attorney for David Prak is seeking to have his statements to police thrown out. The statements implicate the other defendants in the case, prosecutor Traci Carrillo said.

The defendants are all believed to be members of the Asian Boyz street gang. Two other former co-defendants have pleaded to lesser charges and are serving 15- and 18-year prison terms.

The four awaiting trial have been in custody since shortly after the slaying. They appeared in blue jail uniforms aside their lawyers.
