Neighbors agree to let River Rock build new road to casino

River Rock Casino has reached an agreement with Alexander Valley neighbors to build a new road to the casino, it said Tuesday.

The casino, owned by the Dry Creek Pomo tribe, will pay $9 million for an easement over property of the Proschold and Cadd families, according to a filing with U.S. securities regulators.

The new road between State Highway 128 and River Rock Casino is required under an agreement between the tribe and Sonoma County, which says the alternate access is needed for emergency vehicles.

The road is expected to be completed by mid-2012.

Meanwhile, the casino has a deal with the neighbors to acquire the entire 310-acre property by 2016. The price was not disclosed.

River Rock Casino is located on the tribe's 75-acre reservation east of Geyserville.
