River Rock takes over bus service to casino

River Rock Casino will be taking over the bus service it provides to shuttle customers to and from its Geyserville casino, starting next Monday.

For the past eight years the casino used an outside broker to contract with companies that provided a fleet of about 23 buses. That contract was up, so River Rock decided to take over the service for economic reasons, said CEO David Fendrick.

"For the customer it's going to be seamless," Fendrick said. "It gives us more flexibility, so we can lower the rates."

The buses shuttle customers from more than 30 cities around the Bay Area, including San Francisco, San Jose, Pleasanton and Vallejo.

Fendrick said the buses will be newer, and the total number in the fleet will remain about the same. Round-trip fares will cost about $6 to $10, dropping from current rates by about $2 to $4 depending on the location, Fendrick said.
