Where does Rohnert Park's Carmina Salcido fit into the plans for Season 10 of "American Idol?"
We are about to find out.
Tonight's (8-9 p.m.) taped show on Fox from San Francisco concludes the roll call of audition stops around the country. Carmina advanced this far when she first sang in SF back in August, that much we know.
She moved on with a group of about 450 contestants who were whittled down from the 9,200 who tried out that long day. (She arrived about 2 a.m. and left AT&T Park at 5:30 p.m.)
But what happened after that?
"Well, contractually I'm not allowed to say anything until after the show (tonight) is aired," Carmina said last week.
The 24-year-old did reveal she sang "Ave Maria" and "White Flag" by Dido that afternoon for about a minute each in front of producers on the AT&T field.
After that, she returned at a later date to the Sir Francis Drake Hotel for another round of auditions.
Her well-documented story undoubtedly hit a chord with "Idol." In 1989, her father, Ramon Salcido, murdered seven people, including her mother and two sisters. Then a toddler, Salcido survived having her throat slit.
Out of the 450 who advanced to the next round along with Carmina, approximately 50 (some of whom you will see tonight) will get a golden ticket to the next round in Hollywood, a round which has already been taped and starts airing on Fox at 8 on Thursday night.
Will her singing talent and back-story propel her to the next round? She isn't saying, but the show's host, Ryan Seacrest, did not mention her in a tweet this week: "This weeks @AmericanIdol in San Francisco features one guy who has one of the most touching stories I have ever seen and a voice to match!" Seacrest wrote.
No shout out to Carmina in that one.
