Who pays what for pest abatement

The portion of the countywide property tax distributed to the Marin/Sonoma Mosquito and Vector Control District is estimated at about $10 per single-family household.

The district also levies an extra assessment to residents and business in its coverage area. Those in the original boundaries of the district, which include the eastern and central parts of Marin and Sonoma counties, pay Assessment 1.

Assessment 1:

1997-98: $9.75

1998-99: $9.75

1999-00: $9.74

2000-01: $6.00

2001-02: $6.00

2002-03: $9.75

2003-04: $9.75

2004-05: $5.00

2005-06: $9.74

2006-07: $10.72

2007-08: $10.72

2008-09: $10.72

2009-10: $10.72

2010-11: $10.72

A separate assessment is charged to those in areas of western Sonoma and Marin counties annexed in 2003. That group pays more because the countywide property tax they pay is not distributed to the district.

Assessment 2:

2005-06: $19.00

2006-07: $19.36

2007-08: $19.36

2008-09: $19.36

2009-10: $19.36

2010-11: $19.36
