Amy's Kitchen takes over Santa Rosa warehouse

Amy's Kitchen, the Petaluma company that is a leading maker of frozen organic meals, is preparing to move some operations into the former Ritz food warehouse in southwest Santa Rosa.

Amy's has signed a 10-year lease that will allow it to consolidate warehouse and related operations into a 110,000-square-foot section of the Dutton Avenue facility.

"It's certainly a good sign because some of these functions are coming in from out of the area," said Michael Flitner, a Keegan & Coppin agent who represented Amy's in the lease.

The company plans to move its cheese storage and aging operation from the Central Valley to Santa Rosa, Flitner said.

Amy's representatives were unavailable for comment Wednesday.

The company, which began in 1988, employs about 1,500 people at production plants in Santa Rosa and Oregon. It is preparing to begin production this year in Corby, England.
