Record-setting high temperatures expected in North Bay

It's supposed to be downright hot around the North Bay for the next two days, with record high temperatures in the 80s expected in Santa Rosa and some other locations, the National Weather Service said Wednesday.

The mercury was expected to reach 83 degrees in Santa Rosa on Wednesday, besting the previous record of 82, set in 2001, meteorologist Austin Cross said.

Thursday's high was forecast at 84 degrees, compared to a record of 83, Cross said.

And Friday should come in at about 81 degrees - still warm, though not expected break any records, he said.

Off-shore winds that have brought soothing sun and warmth to the North Coast this week should reverse by the weekend, with a return to temperatures in the 60s, Cross said.

A slight chance of rain is in store for late Friday and Saturday, though Sunday should be bright and sunny again, he said.

Temperatures should warm some again next week and be in the 70s, Cross said.
