Sonoma residents can weigh in Saturday on a proposed development that is drawing concern because of its proximity to the city's historic plaza.
The project, at the corner of Broadway and Patten Street, calls for redeveloping a former 10,500 square-foot fire station into a retail, food and office complex.
The development is seen as a test of what the city wants at its main southern gateway, including whether it is a good fit for chain stores.
The developer, Foothill Partners, has confirmed Peet's Coffee & Tea's interest in the site.
Current plans for the site call for two restaurants, a coffee shop, three retail shops, an office loft and multiple "towers."
Saturday's community workshop is from 10 a.m. to noon at the proposed development site.
