Pushing back

EDITOR: I'm sure by now most Americans have heard of Occupy Wall Street. As usual, the mainstream media is downplaying its effects or is distorting the message. So what are we hearing? Class warfare, hippies, freeloaders, trouble-makers, threat to our national economic system, etc. Translation: American capitalism is under attack.

Now here what's really happening: The actual drive of Occupy Wall Street is to make clear of the current inequality of our capitalist system; to expose and reverse Wall Street's attack on the middle and working class; the stock market's ill-gotten gains increased by its manipulation of our government.

The sleight of hand ploys, such as TARP and the near-zero interest Federal Reserve lending, translates into billions for the banking industry but not a nickel for those millions who are losing their homes and to the economically strapped and unemployed Americans.

Wall Street created this socialized loss and privatized gain. Thus, the 1 percent (the super rich) vs. the 99 percent (us). What's the current translation? We're pushing back until daddy cries uncle, and we're on the road in getting our lives back.
