Three suspects face murder charges in shooting at Healdsburg marijuana garden

A Healdsburg man shot to death while at a Wine Country marijuana garden was apparently just hanging out with others before the night turned violent.

Sonoma County sheriff's detectives Wednesday continued to work the case and determine a motive in the weekend shooting, said Lt. Dennis O'Leary.

Suspects Sidonio Santos-Cruz, 35, Agustin Zepeda-Onofre, 23, and Ramon Velasco Lopez, 28, were arraigned in court Tuesday on murder charges.

Detectives believe Santos-Cruz and Zepeda-Onofre each shot Gabino Lopez Santiago, 46, hitting him in the head and chest and killing him.

Lopez, the victim's brother-in-law, reported the shooting at about 2 a.m. Sunday.

Santiago had gone to the marijuana garden on Chemise Road, off of West Dry Creek Road, sometime Saturday where his brother-in-law and the others were tending the garden, O'Leary said.

Sometime during the night arguments broke out, leading to the shooting. O'Leary said detectives still are working on determining the nature of the arguments.

Santiago's body was dumped off of Mill Creek Road, in southern Healdsburg.

The pot garden held about 30 plants, which had recently been harvested, said Sgt. Steve Gossett.

The mature plants were hanging to dry at the garden site.
