Free car seat inspection event Saturday in Windsor

Parents needing a lesson or extra confidence in installing your child's car seat properly can attend a free inspection event Saturday in Windsor.

The CHP, Windsor police and fire departments will host the session, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at the fire station on Windsor Road.

Officers will inspect car seats to make sure they're set properly. They'll also look for any defects, check for recall matches and offer information about child safety seat laws, said CHP Officer Jon Sloat.

Such inspections are held regularly at the CHP officer on Labath Avenue in Rohnert Park. From those checks, CHP officers have found as many as 75 percent of the seats they check are not correctly being used, Sloat said.

The Windsor Fire station is across the road from Windsor High School.

For more information about the event contact Officer Sloat at 588-1400.
