Good Food Awards announces finalists

The Good Food Awards has announced its finalists for the 2012 awards, to be announced Jan. 13, 2012 at the San Francisco Ferry Building.

Now in its second year, the awards are given in eight categories: beer, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate, coffee, pickles, preserves and spirits.

Award winners will be able to display the Good Food Awards Gold Seal, assuring consumers that they have found something exceptionally delicious that is certified organic and sustainably produced.

Here are the finalists from the North Bay:

Beer: A lil' Sumpin' Sumpin' from Lagunitas Brewing Company of Petaluma

Cheese: Capricious from Achadinha Cheese Company of Petaluma; Carmody and Whole Milk Ricotta from Bellwether Farms of Petaluma.

Coffee: Ethiopian Watadera FTO from Equator Coffees & Teas of San Rafael; Ethiopia Sidamo Moredocofe of Flying Goat Coffee in Healdsburg

Preserves: Orange Honey Marmalade of Artisan Preserves in Forestville; Wild Elderberry Syrup of Wine Forest Wild Foods of Napa.

Spirits: Barbershop Rye from 1512 Spirits in Sonoma County; Basil Vodka & Organic Vodka from Square One of Novato.
