Alaska Airlines' growth in Santa Rosa traffic levels off

Alaska Airlines' Santa Rosa ridership saw little growth in November, up less than 1 percent from last year.

But passengers increased 10.6 percent for the year to date, according to Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport.

Alaska operates five flights a day from Santa Rosa to Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland and Las Vegas. It carried 17,312 passengers to and from Santa Rosa in November, compared to 17,260 a year ago.

The flights averaged 80 percent full in November.

So far this year, 190,647 passengers have used Alaska's Santa Rosa service, up from 172,406 in 2010.

The flights are operated by Horizon Air, Alaska's sister carrier. Alaska handles scheduling, ticketing, pricing and marketing.

The airlines are part of Seattle-based Alaska Air Group. Its Horizon-operated flights carried 15 percent fewer passengers system-wide in November, as the carrier reduced the size of its fleet from 54 to 48 aircraft.
