The International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) celebrated its 25th annual Cookbook Awards in early June by honoring the top cookbooks in the world.|

The International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) celebrated its 25th annual Cookbook Awards in early June by honoring the top cookbooks in the world.

Among the winners were "Chewy Gooey Crispy Crunchy Melt-in-Your-Mouth Cookies" by Alice Medrich of Berkeley, in the Baking category.

"What I Eat: Around the World in 80 Days" by Peter Menzel and Faith D'Alusio of Napa, tied for the Jane Grigson Award with "Chanterelle Dreams, Amanita Nightmares" by Greg Marley.

Here are the remaining cookbook awards:

American: "The Lee Bros. Simple Fresh Southern" by Matt and Ted Lee

Culinary history: "Culinary Ephemera" by William Woys Weaver"

Compilation: "The Essential New York Times Cookbook" by Amanda Hesser

Chefs/Restaurants and People's Choice: "Flying Pans" by Bernard Guillas and Ron Oliver

Children, Youth, Family: "Sara Moulton's Everyday Family Dinners" by Sara Moulton

First book: "Fried Chicken & Champagne" by Lisa Dupar

Food Matters, a tie: "American Wasteland" by Jonathan Bloom and "Good Meat" by Deborah Krasner

Food Photography and Design awards: "Noma" by Rene Redzepi

General and Cookbook of the Year awards: "Around My French Table" by Dorie Greenspan

Health: "Essentials of Nutrition for Chefs" by Catharine Powers and Mary Abbott Hess

International: "The Country Cooking of Ireland" by Coleman Andrews

Literary: "As Always, Julia," by Joan Reardon

Professional Kitchens: "Wedding Cake Art and Design" by Toba Garrett

Food and Beverage: "Food Styling" by Delores Custer

Single Subject: "Meat" by James Peterson

Wine, Beer and Spirits: "Asian Palate" by Jeannie Cho Lee

The awards competition added a new award for Culinary Classics this year. The five inaugural recipients are:

"A Book of Mediterranean Food" by Elizabeth David

"On Food & Cooking" by Harold McGee

"The Classic Italian Cook Book" by Marcella Hazan

"Mastering the Art of French Cooking" by Julia Child, Simone Beck, Louisett Bertholle

"Joy of Cooking" by Irma Rombauer and Marion Rombauer Becker.
