Plea delayed again in Rohnert Park crosswalk death

An 18-year-old Rohnert Park woman accused of text messaging during a crosswalk collision that killed a two-year-old and injured her mother was granted an additional delay on Wednesday in the criminal proceedings against her.

Kaitlyn Dunaway faces up to a year in jail if convicted in the Dec. 1 crash that killed toddler Calli Murray and hurt her mother, Ling Murray, 42.

She was expected to enter a plea but her attorney Chris Andrian asked for more time to analyze investigative reports. Judge Brad DeMeo allowed it, without discussion, postponing the matter to Aug. 15.

Dunaway initially was expected to enter a plea June 22, but it was delayed for the same reasons.

Andrian said he was still receiving information from the district attorney, who has not objected to the time extensions. Prosecutors did not charge Dunaway until six months after the crash.

"We all agree that in about a month we should be able to do it," Andrian said outside court.
