Kim Conley to race early Tuesday morning

Set your alarm clocks — 2004 Montgomery High School graduate Kim Conley will line up against the some of the fastest women in the world in the wee hours of Tuesday morning as she vies to be among the 15 finalists in the women's 5,000 meter race at the Olympic games in London.

Round 1 of the women's 5000 meter race is scheduled for 2:55 a.m. west coast time and will feature two heats and a total of 36 runners. The five top finishers from each semifinal heat, plus the five other fastest runners, move on to the 15-competitor final at 12:05 p.m. local time Friday.

Conley, whose personal best for the 12.5-lap race is 15:19, will compete in the second of two heats, lining up against Vivian Cheruiyot of Kenya whose top time is 14:20 as well as fellow American Molly Huddle who has run a best of 14:44.

The first heat will feature Olympic veteran and world record holder Dibababa Tirunesh of Ethiopia who has run the race in 14:11.
