Letter of the Day: Riding safely

Riding safely

EDITOR: For more than 60 years, I've been a licensed driver and a bike rider. I know that a bike rider is always the person hurt in a collision. We need to quit pointing the finger of blame and convince the cycling community to mount a massive safety program among riders. Every single day, I see bikes going the wrong way on highways, even parents with kids. Riding on sidewalks, then darting into crosswalks is particularly dangerous. Drivers don't expect such rapid "pedestrians."

Get with it, folks.
