Women's games

EDITOR: In response to Dennis Tobin's letter about the disproportionate amount of coverage of women's or "girly" games at the Olympics ("Women's games," Letters, Thursday), the network coverage has been focused on the athletes who have the best chance of winning gold.

This year, out of 46 gold medals won by U.S. athletes, 29 were won by women. A U.S. woman also won a gold medal for the first time in women's boxing.

I am very pleased to see so much coverage of women's sports at the international level. I know that millions of women and little girls are pleased also. People can watch football, basketball, baseball, etc. all year long. The Olympics only occur for two weeks every four years. Watch "Pawn Stars" for those two weeks, and let the rest of the country enjoy watching the games.
