Roads aren't free

EDITOR: Let me get this straight. Everyone wants good roads, but many want the money taken from some other department's budget ("Supervisors ponders colossal cost of road repair," Wednesday).

No one wants to pay any more taxes, but we want good roads, especially the ones in front of our own homes.

Something doesn't compute here, and until our taxpaying population figures this out, our government will continue to be dysfunctional. To paraphrase an old business expression: There's no such thing as a free road.
