Napa motorcade for slain CHP officer

The funeral procession and motorcade for a CHP officer who was slain in the line of duty last week will begin in St. Helena on Thursday morning, as mourners prepare for a public 10 a.m. funeral in Vacaville, authorities said.

Officer Kenyon Youngstrom, 37, died Sept. 5, a day after he pulled over a motorist on Highway 680 in Alamo and was shot without warning, authorities said.

The motorcade to honor his public service was expected to leave the Morrison Funeral Chapel on Vintage Avenue in St. Helena beginning at approximately 7:30 a.m., the CHP said.

The procession is to travel down Highway 29 to Highway 12/Jameson Canyon Road and then to eastbound Interstate 80, toward Vacaville.

The 10 a.m. funeral will be held at The Mission Church, 6391 Leisure Town Road in Vacaville.

Youngstrom, 37, lived in Cordelia and served out of the CHP's Contra Costa office. He leaves behind a wife and four children.

His organs were donated to save the lives of four other Californians, the CHP said.
