Little rain, few problems from storm in Sonoma County

It was better than nothing.

The brief and gusty rain storm that traveled through the North Coast late Tuesday and early Wednesday added less than an inch of rain to a lagging season total.

Volunteer rain gauges measured between a third and just about one inch of rainfall throughout Sonoma County.

Public safety officials reported few weather-related incidents. Power was briefly knocked out in Rohnert Park's M section neighborhood, but only for a short time.

"It was just cold, wet and windy," Sgt. Jeff Justice said.

Gusty winds and soggy ground helped fell several trees in the Russian River valley and toward the coast in communities including Annapolis, dispatchers said.

Crews early Wednesday were called to reports that a tree was leaning on power lines on Mill Station Road near Green Meadow Road outside Graton.

The rainy bout added to 11.3 inches of rainfall in Santa Rosa so far during the 2011-2012 winter season, and higher season totals in area such as Guerneville with 20.19 inches prior to the most recent storm, 27.18 in Cazadero and 23.7 in Boonville, Mendocino County.
