Sutter Medical Center lands anchor tenants for new Santa Rosa office building

Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa has landed two anchor tenants for the new 80,000-square-foot medical office building planned for its new hospital campus in north Santa Rosa.

Santa Rosa Surgery and Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation will anchor the new office building, according to the Hammes Company, which is heading development, leasing and financing initiatives for the building.

"We expect to lease the remaining space fairly quickly, given its state-of-the-art, environmentally sustainable design," Hammes development manager Jim Kobayashi said in a statement.

Both Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation and the Santa Rosa Surgery Center are affiliates of Sutter Health, as is Sutter Medical Center. The $284 million hospital under construction just north of the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts will replace the old facility on Chanate Road.

The Surgery Center is currently located at 1111 Sonoma Ave. and Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation has offices on Doyle Park Drive and Airway Drive. Both are expected to move their surgery-related services into the new office building, Sutter spokeswoman Lisa Amador said.

"Primary care practices and offices will stay in locations that are convenient for patients," Amador said.

Construction of the medical office building is expected to begin next August.

The new medical center is expected to be completed by 2014.
