Rohnert Park police arrest woman on suspicion of DUI

Rohnert Park police arrested a woman late Saturday night on suspicion of drunken driving after they said she rear-ended the patrol car of an officer responding to large party.

Police responding to a report of a party around 11:45 p.m. found more than 80 people in a residence in the 6300 block of San Rafael Court.

As people poured out, they began fighting, urinating in public and violating "several Rohnert Park municipal codes," Sgt. Jason Krauss said in a press release. Additional officers were called to handle the crowd.

At one point, an officer heard a crash and saw a Toyota utility vehicle had struck the back end of a patrol car, Krauss said. Both vehicles had only minor scratches.

The owner of the car, who was in the front passenger seat, believed she was too drunk to drive and asked Alexandra Hughes to take the wheel, Krauss said. Hughes, whose age was unavailable, told the owner she was okay to drive, he said.

Hughes failed a field sobriety test, Krauss said, and a breath test showed she had a .20 percent blood-alcohol level. The rate at which an adult is presumed too impaired to drive is .08.

Hughes was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
