Petaluma police arrested five people during an undercover sting in which authorities used internet sites to arrange to meet with prostitutes at local hotels, authorities said.
Those arrested included two women suspected of being prostitutes and three men accompanying them, police said.
The arrests were made around 2 a.m. Thursday after police personnel found two women advertising on the web that they would be working in Petaluma, police Lt. Tim Lyons said.
They arranged to meet each of them for sex, but instead stopped the cars in which they were traveling, arrested the women and their drivers, as well as one other man in one of the cars, police said.
Two of the men, Joshua Hoye, 22, of Sacramento, and Nathan Norvell, 23, of El Cerrito, were cited for suspicion of aiding an act of prostitution and ordered to appear in court, police said.
The women with them, Pashoadra Turner, 26, of Carmichael, and Victoria Barbera, 21, of Novato, were cited for suspected prostitution and released.
A third man, Oscar Medina, 25, of Vallejo, was arrested for suspected possession of a controlled substance and for driving on a suspended license, authorities said.
