Thousands lose power in Santa Rosa

More than 4,500 PG&E customers in east Santa Rosa were without power for just under an hour Monday, possibly as a result of a transformer fire, the utility reported.

The outage occurred at about 12:45 p.m. Power was restored to all but two customers about an hour later, a PG&E spokeswoman said.

A woman who was visiting a home care patient in a mobile home park near Betty's Fish n' Chips on Highway 12 Monday reported seeing sparks coming from a transformer shortly before the power went out.
