Santa Rosa police arrest man as suspected pimp

A 32-year-old Los Angeles man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of trying to force a 16-year-old girl into prostitution out of a Santa Rosa hotel room, authorities said.

Chuncey Tarae Garcia also is suspected of having unlawful sex with a minor and remained in custody Wednesday on $10,000 bail.

Garcia picked the girl up in Oakland about two weeks ago and drove her to the Extended Stay America hotel on Corby Avenue, Sgt. John Snetsinger said.

The girl told authorities that Garcia sexually assaulted her and then beat her when she refused to prostitute herself, Snetsinger said.

The investigation began Tuesday when the girl came into contact with Rohnert Park police officers, who then took her to Sutter Medical Center in Santa Rosa.

Santa Rosa police took over the case because the assaults happened in the city.

Detectives found evidence prostitution was taking place in two rooms at Extended Stay America, Snetsinger said.
