EDITOR: Is anyone else shocked by the surly behavior of Graton Rancheria Tribal Chairman Greg Sarris toward the press? After Gov. Jerry Brown approved the casino, Sarris failed to respond to The Press Democrat. When he did respond, he said the tribe doesn't talk to the press, called the reporter a "punk" and hung up on him. Now I read that his attorney has told the paper not to call Sarris' cellphone. Apparently he is willing to benefit from the casino but not to bear the responsibility of being a public figure. His behavior, on top of the serious, unmitigated traffic, water and other impacts, makes the casino project a very sketchy one indeed.
