Man stabbed multiple times at west Santa Rosa apartment complex

A 37-year-old Santa Rosa man was stabbed multiple times at a west Santa Rosa apartment complex late Thursday and was flown to an out-of-county hospital for treatment, police and emergency personnel said.

Police said it remained unclear Friday who was responsible for the stabbing or why. The victim, Mark Lewis Mallory, was not responsive to detectives' questioning, police Sgt. Dave Linscomb said.

Mallory, a transient, apparently was injured just before midnight Thursday in or around the Maribelle Apartments on Apple Creek Lane, near West Third Street and Dutton Avenue, police said.

Emergency dispatchers indicated he suffered three wounds, one of them serious.

He then knocked at an apartment door seeking help, perhaps from an acquaintance who lived there, Linscomb said.

Mallory was flown to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa, as patients were being diverted from the trauma unit at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital because of a power outage, emergency dispatchers said.

He was expected to recover, Linscomb said.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call the Santa Rosa Police Violent Crimes Investigation Team at (707) 543-3590.
