Driver asleep at the wheel causes Windsor crash

Emergency crews Sunday responded to a solo-vehicle crash on Highway 101 in Windsor involving a driver who appeared to be asleep at the wheel.

The crash was reported at 10:46 a.m.

A northbound blue Volvo veered off the highway and crashed through a fence north of Arata Lane, according to preliminary reports.

The vehicle apparently landed on the highway frontage Los Amigos Road.

A caller told dispatchers the driver appeared to be asleep until the caller jolted the driver awake by honking the horn, according to the CHP log.

No more details were immediately available.
