Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences gives $200,000 toChildren's Museum of Sonoma County

The Children's Museum of Sonoma County, which is attempting to raise $3.6 million, received $200,000 in donations from Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences founder Gordon Dow and his wife, Joanne, and the company that acquired his Petaluma biotech firm.

The Dows previously supplied $100,000 to help renovate a West Steele Lane building expected to open as a children's museum in late 2013, museum representatives said.

The couple has now made an additional $100,000 donation, which was matched by Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, where Dow continued working after the 2008 sale.

The museum's chief executive, Collette Michaud, said $2.3 million has now been raised toward the museum's $3.6 million fundraising goal.
