Driver killed when car runs into fence in Santa Rosa

A Sonoma County driver died in a crash Wednesday morning in south Santa Rosa when her car hit a fence and a board smashed through her windshield, the CHP reported.

The woman was headed west on rural Millbrae Avenue about 10:45 a.m. when she lost control of her Toyota Corolla.

Near Primrose Avenue her car drifted to the right and she apparently overcorrected, CHP Sgt. Allan Capurro said.

The car went off the left side of the road, down a dirt ditch and into a fence.

"Unfortunately one of the fence boards pierced her front windshield and struck her in the head," said Capurro.

The woman was killed in the impact. Her identity wasn't released Wednesday afternoon.
