EDITOR: I was driving on Sonoma Avenue and noticed how beautiful the eastern hills bordering Santa Rosa look as I approached the intersection with Farmers Lane. I got home and took another look at the front page of Wednesday's paper ("SR balks at Codding arch"). The proposed arch looks like "Welcome to Wallyworld" to me, hardly a memorial. I find it distracting and gaudy. It belongs in a city like Las Vegas. I think a $200,000 statue of Hugh Codding in one of the many walkways in Montgomery Village would be more appealing as a memorial.
