A day in the life

The paper lands on your driveway in the dark of early morning. The Web site has already updated overnight reports and breaking news stories from around the world. And you haven't even gotten up yet. Just as the final product of a 24-hour news cycle is delivered, a new workday begins. Some days run like clockwork, others are a harried dash to deadline.

What had been shaping up as a slow news day received a shot of urgency when police calls of a home invasion and later an evacuation of the Kmart in Santa Rosa caught the attention of reporter Randi Rossmann and photographer Kent Porter. Here, we follow The Press Democrat as it covered the story, updated developments online and, finally, put the news into your hands.
