Santa Rosa man surrenders in Rohnert Park hit-run

A Santa Rosa man sought by police since an October hit-and-run crash turned himself in Monday at the Sonoma County courthouse, Rohnert Park police said.

Jared Whisman-Pryor, 27, pleaded not guilty Monday to felony hit-and-run causing injury, clearing a $40,000 warrant for his arrest, his attorney, Evan Zelig, said.

Police suspect Whisman-Pryor was the motorcyclist who hit a bicyclist Oct. 7 on Redwood Drive near Willis Avenue and rode away.

Bicyclist William Schilling, 68, of Santa Rosa suffered extensive injuries, including a shattered pelvis, fractured spine and lacerations, Sgt. Aaron Johnson said.

Police identified Whisman-Pryor as the biker through debris left behind, surveillance images and witnesses but couldn't find him, he said.

Whisman-Pryor is to return to court Dec. 17 for a bail hearing and settlement conference, Zelig said.
