Longtime Zap executive out as co-CEO

Santa Rosa electric car distributor Zap Jonway said Steve Schneider is longer its co-chief executive, and it is looking for a new leader for U.S. operations.

Schneider will remain a company director, Zap Jonway said in a filing with securities regulators Wednesday. It didn't elaborate and Schneider couldn't be reached for comment Thursday.

Schneider was CEO of Zap starting in 2002 and became co-CEO in 2010 when Zap merged with Chinese automaker Jonway.

Alex Wang, who became the co-CEO in 2010, will oversee U.S. operations while Zap Jonway's board searches for a new chief executive, the company said Wednesday.

Zap Jonway shares closed at 13 cents in over-the-counter trading Thursday, down 1 cent from Wednesday.
