One man was stabbed during a fight on a Russian River beach near Forestville late Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
Details about the victim were not available late Wednesday, but the injuries were not life threatening, said Sonoma County Sheriff's Sgt. Kevin Scanlon.
"Two large groups had some type of verbal altercation that became physical," Scanlon said. Also, it is thought that the two groups knew each other.
It wasn't known if the incident was gang-related, but it was still under investigation, Scanlon said.
No arrests had been made, he said.
The 5 p.m. incident took place on a portion of Steelhead Beach on River Road.
