An overturned car blocked southbound Highway 101 traffic in Santa Rosa early Wednesday and sent one person to a hospital with injuries, according to the CHP and emergency dispatch reports.

The 6:30 a.m. crash occurred just north of Corby Avenue. The driver of a sports utility vehicle apparently lost control and the large vehicle flipped onto its roof, stopping in the right lane, the CHP said.

Traffic backed up and the CHP issued a public alert for drivers to be aware of stopped traffic and a blocked slow lane.

One person was taken to a hospital but the extent of their injuries initially wasn’t available.

The CHP reported at 6:55 a.m. that the blocked lane was opened.
