Petaluma traffic stop leads to drug find

A 39-year-old Corte Madera man was arrested Friday evening in Petaluma on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine after police used a trained drug dog to search his vehicle.

Thomas James Taylor was stopped by a police officer for a vehicle equipment violation about 6:40 p.m. on North McDowell Boulevard. The officer learned that Taylor was on probation and subject to warrantless searches.

Officer Corie Joerger, the department's canine officer, and her dog Tango helped conduct a search of Taylor's vehicle. Tango found 6.25 grams of meth hidden in the vehicle, according to a press release.

Taylor was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
