Missing hiker, 13, found in California national park

A boy who got separated from his group while hiking at Kings Canyon National Park was located Monday night.|

KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARK — A 13-year-old boy who got separated from his group while hiking at Kings Canyon National Park in Central California has been found.

The Fresno Bee reports (http://bit.ly/1kkGawY) Austin Shedd was located around 9:30 p.m. Monday. He had been reported missing at 2 a.m.

Parks officials say the boy was spending Monday night in the wilderness with the trail crew before being airlifted out Tuesday morning.

Shedd's group was hiking from Arrow Peak to Bench Lake when he disappeared. The hikers had planned to end their trip Monday and exit through the park's Taboose Pass.
