Sonoma man hurt in crash east of Petaluma

A Sonoma man whose car crashed into a tree Tuesday night had to be freed from his vehicle before being taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment of multiple injuries, Rancho Adobe firefighters said.

The man’s 1993 Toyota Corolla ran off the road at Adobe and Hamilton roads east of Petaluma at shortly before 6:30 p.m., apparently hitting a tree before ending up in a nearby field, Capt. Jimmy Bernal said. The car sustained major front-end damage and the driver, who Bernal described as being in his mid-20s, suffered numerous injuries, including a possible broken femur.

Rancho Adobe and Petaluma firefighters were able to get him out of the car and on the way to the hospital, Bernal said.

The CHP still is investigating what caused the crash, Officer Kerri Post said. However, it doesn’t appear alcohol was a factor, she said.
