An emergency response team with Sonoma County Sheriff’s Henry 1 helicopter rescued a 29-year-old man Saturday afternoon after he suffered a heat-related injury in a ravine near Pine Flat Road in northeast Sonoma County.
The Henry 1 crew arrived within 10 minutes of the initial call at 12:52 p.m. The man was located in a ravine with heavy vegetation about 300 yards east of the ridgetop road. The Henry 1 pilot landed on a ridge and prepared the helicopter for a “long-line” rescue.
The pilot then flew two crew members on a 100-foot-long line to the immobilized patient, officials said. The patient was placed on the long-line rescue device and, along with the two rescue crew members, was flown to a landing zone.
The patient was treated by a Henry 1 paramedic and released.
